PRACTICAL HELP

If this is your first foray into family history research in the Dundee/Angus area, included here is some useful information, which should hopefully assist you in your search.

Familiarise yourself with the geographical locations of parishes in the area, and their official reference numbers using the PARISH MAP and ANGUS PARISH INFORMATION. For descriptions of each parish see the individual Angus parish pages on GENUKI and those included in the Statistical Accounts of Scotland, 1791-99 and 1845.

Decipher what you can see on certificates, census returns and parish register entries using the Glossary, and pick up some handy Hints and Tips along the way.
